THE FLORA

Along the river within the reserve, is lined with plants typical of the land melmosi: Canne marsh (see photo on right), from Giunchi mat, a smooth narrow leaves. Beyond this range melmosa is a flat area, subject to winter flooding and summer drying, the vegetation is composed of Tamerici, Giunchi pungent, sharp and southern Salici common and pedicels. A third group, made up more ground water, clay and covered with salt, is a vegetation of small shrubs with succulent leaves, such as Salicornia fruticosa (pictured left), the Suaeda maritime, the Atriplice portulacoide and Limoni town. The sandy shoreline on either side of the mouth of the river has a rich vegetation even more: Violaciocca game (see photo top right), Salsola, Santolina, Poligono maritime and maritime Ravastrello along the shoreline; Gramigna beaches, Esparto pungent, Myrtle, Fiordaliso beaches, (pictured below right), Lily of the beaches (see photo inbasso left), and spots Lentisco Olivastro, inland and along the sand dunes. Areas distant from the river were, at one time, a dense evergreen scrub. Today, following the successive reclamation works were taken up by crops.
